Kundalini: the yoga of awareness. Literally translated, Kundalini is
Sanskrit for coiled. As practiced in yoga, the term refers to an unconscious, instinctive or libidinal force or Shakti that lies coiled at the
base of the spine. The discipline is one of physical, mental and spiritual aspects, practiced to develop strength, awareness and character. The primary focus of Kundalini yoga is to expand the sensory awareness and intuition
and thereby raising individual consciousness. Considered an advanced form of yoga and meditation, its purpose is to cultivate the creative spiritual potential of a human, and facilitate compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal others. The practice combines breath work, physical yoga with mantra (chanting), and mudra (hand postures).
